Safety
PetsMatchy helps people connect over animals. We cannot supervise in-person meetings. Use the same caution you would when meeting anyone from the internet. This page is practical guidance; it is not legal, veterinary, or emergency advice.
If there is an emergency
If a person or animal is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. PetsMatchy is not an emergency hotline and cannot dispatch police, ambulance, or a veterinarian.
Meeting in person
- Meet in a public place during daylight when you can. Tell a friend where you are going.
- Do not share your home address in a first message. Use the in-app map pin or a public landmark.
- Keep early conversations in the app so you have a record. Be cautious if someone immediately asks to move to WhatsApp, email, or a payment app.
- Watch your pet’s body language. Leave if you or your animal are uncomfortable.
- Do not leave a pet with a stranger unsupervised until you trust them.
Adoption, rehoming, and breeding
- Never send money, gift cards, or cryptocurrency to “reserve” an animal you have not met, especially to someone who refuses a video call or a public meetup.
- Ask for vaccination and identification records. Verify microchips where that system exists in your country.
- Written agreements help, but they do not replace common sense. Follow local animal-welfare and sale laws.
- Breeding involves health and legal risks. PetsMatchy does not certify breeders or health tests.
Lost and found posts
Be careful with photos of your home, your child’s school, or a precise address if that would put you at risk. Prefer a neighbourhood-level description plus a way to contact you in the app. If you find an animal, try to check for a tag or microchip and consider a local vet or shelter. Do not assume every “found” post is genuine; scams exist in this category too.
Veterinary bookings
Listings are provided by clinics. PetsMatchy does not provide medical advice and does not guarantee that a clinic is licensed, open, or appropriate for your animal. For urgent symptoms, contact an emergency clinic directly. Confirm fees, hours, and records with the clinic before you travel.
Harassment, scams, and abuse
Use Block in the app to stop contact. Use Report for scams, fake vets, animal cruelty, sexual content involving minors, or harassment. We may remove content, suspend or delete accounts, and email users as described in our Community Standards and Terms of Service.
We will never ask you to send your password. Security emails come from our transactional mail provider and will not ask you to paste a password into a web form we did not link from the official app.
